Center Console Repair
This is in my future. Thanks for the idea. Just a thought but since you have the center console out you should epoxy/reinforce the lower mounts on the switch panel. Mine started with top and then the bottom gave way. This plastic with time just weakens and becomes brittle.
I was thinking about that but the uppers are in perfect shape for now and hopefully I'll be more gentle than the previous owner. The Disco is just a fun weekend vehicle that doesn't see too many miles, I had the console out to free up the transfer case and CDL linkages (frozen solid when I bought it).
I built a new backing plate using sheet metal from a rusted out bronco tailgate. I still need to re-align the window switches with the correct windows, but I keep putting it off since the next time I take that apart I have some work to do on the top of the t-case too.
Your fix looks solid.

Whenever a curing paste/epoxy like Bondo, JBweld is used for a repair like these, remember to embed pieces of scouring 'brillo' metal wool pads into the paste mix soon, well before cures.
