Just curious if anyone has any ideas about what the best route would be to get a center locker in my 02' discovery, or should I not worry about it for now and buy a Detroit truetrac for the front diff and a Detroit locker for the rear? Just wondering what you guys think the best option is, I'm new to the land Rover scene, the truck already has a winch, snorkel, 3 inch lift, and 32" all terrains. The picture is still from Facebook marketplace because I bought the truck yesterday.
Transfer case swap is not that bad of a job. That would be the route l'd go. They are pretty formidable with traction control, locking diff and serious off road tires. My 01 was a beast.
My 2002 had the CDL hardware in the transfer case. I just sourced a 2004 handle/linkage and connected it right up. A few hours later, 2002 with a CDL! Model year 2002 was sort of the phase out period of the factory CDL, so check that yours has the hardware before writing it off and getting a 2004's transfer case. If you reach up to the topside of the transfer case and feel around, if you have a CDL equipped, you'll feel the little spigot on the top where the cable connects. It should be on the right-hand side.
