How many of you that have installed a CDL lever have cut the C0506 wire so you don't get the 3 amigo's lights on if you have the CDL engaged while you shut the engine off. Is there any negatives to cutting this wire?

I always look at cutting wires to get things to work as a hack job, others feel that it's ok.

Personally, instead of cutting wires, replacing your SLABS module with one from a 2004 (~$50 on eBay) will mitigate the 3 Amigo's upon CDL locked restart. I also hear the SLABS control strategy was superior in 2004.

I never thought about replacing the SLABS with one from an 04. Thanks for the tip.

Jim, that is what I did: replace my SLABS ECU with one from a 2004, when my original developed an internal fault causing the Amigos. Possibly one of the best investments I have made for my Disco, other than when I installed the 04 CDL shifter assembly.

I know this is a super old post, but I definitely want to do this mod on my 2000 DII and i just have one question before i move forward.

I have heard there are some transfer cases that do not have the central diff lock and some that do, i just want to be sure mine has it before i move forward, so how can i tell if mine has the CDL???

THANK YOU!!

Feel for a nipple on top of the TC at the front just above and about 2 inches back. If you see or feel 3 bolts with a shaft in the middle = CDL, if you feel nothing but a flat spot = No CDL.

Also for quicker & more precise answers I highly recommend filling out your signature with your vehicle specs.
