Recently Bought a 2001 Disco SE 160k on the clock.
Did a cooling flush and replaced the thermostat for a soft 180 deg. Replaced CPS.
It has several trouble codes im chasing down, and a issue where it takes 3-5 attempts to start, but wont restart after a 15 min drive till it cools down. I just replaced the CPS and it still takes a few cranks to start cold, but havent driven far yet to see about the hot restart. UPDATE CPS fixed the hot restart but still takes a few cranks still to get going.
Did a crude test for vacuum leaks spraying around with electrical connection cleaner found a few leaks on Vac lines and fixed em. Havent dug into injector seals and whatnot trying not to so far.
Still getting lean codes.
Seems the short term fuel trim on bank 2 is always way higher than bank 1. Symptom of a vac leak on bank 2?
O2 sensors seem to cycle from 0 to .7 ish
Trying to find a fuel pressure tester near me for the start issue more data should help. Tempted to just throw a new fuel pump at it.
Any consensus on the typical/possible causes of these lean codes? I know its a mile long list possibility wise.
Have torque pro and can watch quite a few live statistics if any would help.

You sound like you're one the right track. Like you said, there are many possibilities. I'd make sure to look at your MAF sensor value as well. As you investigate those, one thing to make sure you do is clear the learned fuel trims.
Does the fuel trim reset with clearing codes. Do i need to do something else to clear them?
I had no luck getting a fuel pressure gauge on the damn port. Found a oem fuel pump at a good price going in tomorrow hopefully. Hoping it is low psi causing hard starts and lean condition.
No, clearing DTCs won't reset the adaptive values. Without a Hawkeye or high-end device to reset them, I believe the common diy method is to remove the battery cables and touch them together. Some say overnight, some say about an hour will allow the system to full discharge.
@DodyDisco if you leave the vehicle overnight then in the AM switch the ignition to position 2 for three cycles then try to start, does it fire right up?
If so, its your fuel pump. By cysvling you are building up the pressure.
Position 2 doesn't seem to do it.
But 3 or 4 taps that crank it just a second seem to prime it.
Once running if shut off, It will immediately restart 1st try. But after it sits its a while its back to the couple cranks.
Im thinking fuel pressure issue also. I cant seem to get the pressure tester i have on the fitting properly.
New fuel pump will be here in a day or two. Hopefully thats the problem. Maybe even my lean codes source? We shall see.
Ive been fighting the urge to spray off my MAF with cleaner. Trying to not cause more variables as i go.
Anyone happen to know the proper MAF flow rate reading for me to check it out. I see lots of conflicting posts.
