to the roof. or you can get a reverse mount for the back that will allow for more clearance at the bumper

saw you posted this over on Pirate, so I figured I come over and take a look...

you are 100% wrong in this statement:

"The only thing I have to say after all of this is any one running 33inch or larger even with a lift will have to modify their fenders in some way, lifted or not once running under extreme articulation. ONCE the tires fit just imagine the true Articulation you can have. Lifted is nothing more than a preference!! "

You can fit up to a 35" tire on a D2 WITHOUT any trimming. With a 2" lift, you can run up to a 32" without any trimming (see attached). With a 3" lift you can up to a 34" tire. I understand your point about keeping it low, but a 2" lift doesn't effect the COG to the point where the truck becomes tippy in anyway. Even a bodylift from Justin at Lucky8 would have served your purpose better.

I agree with the statement that you don't have to lift a truck to go off-road. I have 2 LR's , a D1, which is stock and D2 that is built up with Toyota FZJ80 axles and 37" IROK's, my ride height is the same as D2 with a 3" lift and I didn't have to trim anything. I take both trucks offroad, on the same trails and have zero issues with either. They both are very capable and I even still have the swaybar's attached on the D1. So my point is that your statement about having to trim to fit a larger tire on a D2, even with a lift, is 100% WRONG...

I wouldn't be too sure... There are several posts on here about coils breaking from off-road use. But surprisingly, their are people who have put OME coils on trucks that haven't even really been really used off-road yet and had broken stock coils. Ask Justin at Lucky8 he has seen a few.

I am not undermining your knowledge, as I know you have lots of hands on experience, I am just adding what I have seen/read.

P.S. - The truck from this thread is NOT my bag of tea but to each his own. I am sure with a mild 2in lift and some fender flares it will look good.

I had a broken front spring, it's not uncommon. I wonder if they had some bad springs from the factory. I never would have seen mine if it weren't up on a lift and stretched out. Yes Justin at Lucky8 said he's seen a few when I ordered my new ones.

Ask Mike - he has seen a few.

I have seen several old posts on here about it, just can't seem to find them now.

Justin @ Lucky8 actually just did one the other day too - http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#!/p...d=123570148926 - here is a link to the picture.

I also see someone else just posted in front of me that personally had a broken spring.

All I was saying, and I think Mike was too, was that it doesn't make sense to put all that money into a truck and take it off-road with the weak stock springs/shocks.

I get the argument that the Camel Trophy trucks did it, but those were brand new (or close) trucks, they had $$$, and those guys had sponsors or were driving someone else's truck.

I am just saying if it were mine (and I do have a D2) I would at least do a minimal 2in lift and get some fresh shocks/springs under that bad boy. Also when he gets a winch on their (which all real off-road trucks should have) it will really weight that front end done on the soft stock springs and will develop new rubbing issues he hasn't accounted for at this time.

Not trying to start any argument, just add my thoughts.

I just got off the phone Justin and didn't ask about broken springs (should have), and "few" is the key word...anyway's I agree with you about this thread, a 2" lift, new shocks and you can fit a 33" with no trimming and it doesn't compromise the truck in any way...

I like the look, it looks like a tonka truck. It just looks unfinished with the fenders like they are (although I've seen much worse trim jobs). When he wants or feels that he needs new springs putting a 2" lift on it won't change the look or anything else for that matter, very much.

I may be not understanding what you're saying, but no lift is going to get more clearance under the diff. The only thing that will add clearance under the diff is larger tires, or portal axles, and I'm not aware of a portal conversion for DII axles.
