Default Checking Transfer Case Oil

Is there a trick to getting the fill plug out of the transfer case? There is a wire wrapped in foil going right under it and I can't use an extension because the e-brake drum is in the way.

You need a 1/2 inch extension and a swivel and a lot of patience.
That's how I did it.

If you like to swear then this is the time to practice the art.

I tried both but it might be because there is a lot of dirt and oil inside the plug. I will try cleaning it out and see what happens.

If you remove the cross beam on the frame it'll make life easier, using a 4" extension helps.

After you do it 100 times it's easy as can be.

you can reach right over the top of the cross member with a 12 inch extension with a u-joint on the end.

I just use a 1/2" ratchet, no extension, no swivel. I go up over the exhaust and put the ratchet in between the parking brake cable and the T-case. It works best and is really easy once you do it the first time and figure it out.
