Default Cigarette Lighter Problem

I own a 99 LR Disco and since i bought it the cigarette lighter hasn't worked. I am not a smoker but i need it to hook up my new XM radio. Any suggestions on how to fix it?? Also does anyone own an XM radio in their rover?? I am considering having it profesionally installed so that i don't see any of the ugly wires. Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated.

If you are close to my part of Texas, I'll help you out.

anyway, check in your fuse panel (which you may have already done) also check for any shorts in the wiring etc. maybe a wire just came unplugged???

Good Luck

LOL!

Cowgirl, it's kinda easy. You can follow/use the power wires from the cigarette outlet from the inside of the panel, or even use the stereo's power wires. If you need schematics let us know.

to get to midland from Denton,

go south on I-35 toward Fort Worth, take I-820 east (that is the loop around Fort Worth) once you get to I-30, go west toward abilene, about 5 miles west of there, I-30 merges with and becomes I-20, go west for about 290 miles and you will be here

PM me if you need any additional help

I might be in fort worth sometime soon and maybe we can meet up there instead, that would be easier

best buy wouldn't install my radio. they said the company didn't allow them to touch them. i guess its cause of the amp by pass and all that you have to use. maybe folks where you live are more helpful.

Defently check your fuses, then check wires going to it. Get a test light, good investment if you own a Disco, and check the wires with it, make sure there is continunity (spelling) to the ground side of the cig. lighter.

oh yea, 05landrover, the easyest way for her to go would prolly be west until albqurque, then north 3 hours up here to colorado, hahah J/K.......

I bet you just blew a fuse so borrow a test light and look up which fuse it is or you can just replace it if you dont have a tester. Mine wasnt working, the lighter would go it but it would "snap" in to light unless I held it so I stuck my finger in there today and there was a bunch of dirt and a small piece of plastic which I pulled out. It started working fine so make sure you have a clean connection.
