Default Clicking?!

I have a 2004 disco ii. For the last month or so i have been hearing a clicking noise when i accelerate. It sounds like it coming from the right side of the block when i am sitting in the drivers seat. I have alread replaced all the manifold gaskets so i know its not that. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Check your front driveshaft. They will click before they fail. When it fails, it will most likely take out your transmission housing also.

I had a clicking once form that area under acceleration only... turned out to be a bad motor mount.

I have an 04 with ticking at idle. I think it is a bad/dirty lifter

Were you ever able to rid of the ticking?

Don't know yet. I have towed my boat through central California in 108' heat with no problem. I know a few people have suggested I might have a slipped liner but I can't imagine I would not have coolant lose or other symptoms. I still think I have a sticky lifter

I'm OP's brother, its the purge valve, it wasn't coding, just sticking a little at idle.

EDIT: I had a completely clogged lifter that gave me a tick and a knock, I changed to 10W30 and put some Marvels Mystery Oil in there and it cleared it up and my engine runs great. I'm now running Royal Purple 15w40 though, I wouldn't recommend running 10W30 for extended use, I just used it to clear it out.

Dane.
