Default Coil Packs

So, I was getting a cylinder 6 misfire. I tried changing the plug from cylinder 6 to 2, but the misfire didn't follow. The plugs looked okay, and were changed, along with plug wires and injectors, around 20,000 miles ago. I'm guessing that the problem would be with the coil pack.

Are both coil packs interchangeable on these trucks? I was looking at these, but I've got no experience with this company or these trucks. I just want to make sure I get the right one.

Thanks.

From my experience many types of coil packs are interchangeable but only buy them if says it will work on your year model. I recently replaced both of my coil packs with a version that cross lists with a kia. You can find ones like this on ebay.

Don't assume that the plug wires are good just because they were changed 20K miles ago, you need to test them, I've seen bad plug wires right out of the box.

Swap the wire, if all else fails swap the packs side to side and see if the miss follows. L and R packs are the same just flipped.

Well, I was thinking I would do wires at the same time as the coil packs. I've seen that you can do the coils without taking the IM off, but I don't think I'm that patient. I figured, I'd pay a new shop that just opened up down that street to my house.

I'll probably do coils and wires.

Can you reach back there and just do wires? Even that, (being a bigger guy) looks like it would **** me right off. How tough is it to reach back there for the wires?

Thanks, guys. This place kicks ***.

I personally take the intake plenum off to do them, I dont have SAI so it's only a few connectors and 6 bolts. Just dont lose the clips for the ICV or the purge valve and you'll be set.

Yeah. It's nothing a new gasket can't fix.

I found the coil packs. I'll be getting them from The Car Farm for $50 used. We'll see how it goes. I dont' usually like buying used for something so inaccessible, but it's saving quite a bit.

Thanks, guys.

Here is a seldom viewed orientation of the coil packs.

Oh, I thought they were positioned with the plug wires up. That helps a lot, man. I haven't taken a look back there yet. Thanks!
