Default Coil Packs

I am going to do Coils, Wires, plugs, and wanted to see if anyone had luck with Coils other than Bosch. I am leaning towards the Bosch, but just wanted to check to see if the Duralast. Beck Arnley, etc. were a good alternative.

I changed plugs, wires, and coils last Spring to cure a longstanding misfire issue. I went with the cheap coil packs (non Bosch) but forget where I bought them. Either Rockauto or Lucky8 I believe. Kingsborne 8mm wires and Champion 7070's and my misfires have been gone ever since.

I am leaning Bosch, but may do Beck Arnley from Rockauto. Claims better ignition, has warranty, but I have seen that sticking with Bosch stuff is the way to go for electrical/ignition stuff. Of course, everyone has an opinion.

I am going to do NGK Performance plugs, Kingsborne Wires. It's these types of things that are fun to try and check mileage/performance.

I used the $15-$20 cheapos from eBay and I've had no issues in 15k miles.

I've had very good results with the Standard Motor Products/Intermotor coils (UF-545) from RA for $41.79 > RockAuto

I'm NOT a fan of Kingsborne wires! I've had them fail on LR, Porsche, etc. so never again. I do like the Karlyn/STI-721 > Karlyn Industries Ignition Wire Sets, STI Wire Sets, PHAT WIRES, Bremi Ignition & Suspension Parts , and at $33.59 from FCPEuro you can't beat them.

What was the nature of your misfire issue? Bad enough to throw codes, only noticeable at idle?

I've had a misfire at idle forever (no codes) and have thought about swapping the coils, but my experience with coil on plug vehicles has been that when they fail they fail and never fire again.

Yes I realize... My point was that my only experience with modern coil pack ignition (other than this vehicle) is with coil on plug vehicles. And on those vehicles, when the coils failed, they gave up the ghost completely and didnt fire a lick anymore.

Very bad. I had the flashing SES light and severe bogging. It would go away under firm acceleration though, so I think there is the possibility of these coil packs going out 'partially', or else something else odd was going on. I had previously changed the plugs and wires, so it was definitely the coil packs at fault.

Grab whatever coil packs you can get at around the 35-50.00 range and call it a day.
