Is one better than the other? I am gathering everything needed for a head gasket replacement and would like to use whichever is better. I read somewhere that an aftermarket steel one is offered that could be better than the composite but can't seem to find it again.
If composite is there a difference in quality between OEM Rover, VR, Fel Pro, or any other brand?
I am not always a fan of "kits" as they may not include all of the best brand gaskets unless someone has a good recommendation? And without a doubt I will be using ARP studs in place of the OEM torque to yield bolts.
I've had good luck with the cheap head gasket kits in the past, though if you're looing for name brand then Fel-Pro is always a good product and widely available.
Atlantic British seems to sell a good kit and I think the valley pan gasket is metal. A quick call should clarify. And they sell a kit that includes the ARP studs, so if the head gaskets are VR or equivalent that may be the way to go.
Not sure why I am hung up on a metal valley pan gasket over a composite one, but I think I read somewhere that the metal was better. Just like my other post asking about metal layered head gaskets. I don't mind spending the extra money if it is a better and longer lasting product, especially with regard to head gaskets.
