hi everyone I'm new to this so here goes, I've a discovery 2003 mk 11 only got it last week but the air bags are going down when left sitting for a while. I've checked everything for leaks but nothing but I did hear a popping sound like a valve opening and then the bags would go down. after a while the compressor tries to cut in for about 2 seconds until battery is flat. any help would be great.

 

I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with the SLS and airbags but I'll try and help you out here.

First off, most people get rid of the airbags when problems like this start to show up because it's not too much more money to switch over to springs and then you don't have to worry about the airbags/SLS ever again.

Now with that said, if you are dead set on keeping the stock setup then we can try and find your issue. Your SLS (self leveling system) is controlled by the SLABS ecu and if there is a fault in the system it should store and trouble code there to help point you in the right direction. Is your SLS light on the dash on?

If you are positive that the air bags are not the issue then your problem is located somewhere in the system below. I would guess maybe the exhaust valve is bad but I'm really just guessing without more information. All of the components for the SLS system and basically mounted in a black box on the frame under the drivers side of the truck. Maybe you can open the box and listen for the "pop" sound you are hearing and pin point where it is coming from.

 

Thanks roverguy the only light on the dash is for the down hill braking I think that's what it's for would that be any help. I would like to keep it on air if possible. I'll see if I can get a computer on and see what it says. Thanks again for your help.

 

have you let it get to height and pull the relay to see if it stays thier

 

I left it on full height for 2 days and it never dropped so I took it for a drive and an hour later it was down.
