I did my head gaskets bout 6 months ago. Got a complete gasket set for about $150 ( head gasket, upper and lower intake, valley gasket, etc ). Had my head resurfaced and valve job done by an auto shop. Had the guides resleeved and relaced 8 new exhaust valves, seals, and 1 cylinder head (cracked the old one courtesy of yours truly). Cost about $800. It was my first time pulling a cylinder head off. Also changed the coils, plug wires, pulled the injectors and had them cleaned and checked for spray pattern. Total time about 3 days taking my time. What took long was waiting for the turn around to get the heads, injectors, and other things I decided to change since I already had the engine apart. Would I do it again? A definite YES. Currently have 103,000 miles on this 2000 LR Disco 2 and it runs very smooth. Big change before and after the valve job.
