RE: coolant?
tbriska-Have your cooling system flushed. Because you dont know when it was or even if it was done before you bought the truck.
Confusing ain't it?
Here is what I know...Land Rover uses DexCool from the factory in DII's, they recommend changing the coolant every 45,000 miles or 36 months, whichever is sooner.
DII's develop head gasket leaks around 80,000 miles. Most DII's have never had their coolant changed.
Here is what I learned from when I sold coolant...DexCool contains acid and becomes extremly corrosive IF not properly maintained. i.e. it becomes contaiminated with either air, other coolant or other foreign matter, scale for example.
Mechanics HATE DexCool, even GM Goodrich mechanics. Everyone that I talked to ran their own DIY shop in their garage at home and they all refused to use DexCool outside of the GM dealership. They had to us it at work but would'nt "use that crap in my own car."
So in my humble opinion when topping off use what is in there all ready, if you are going to do a flush and fill use whatever you want.
Bottom line, change it every two years regardless of miles or type that you use.
Personnaly I use Peak Global Lifetime Coolant 50/50 premix and drain and fill every two years.
