Just installed new top radiator hoses as the one hose connecting to the radiator was leaking... now the bottom hose attaching to the thermostat is leaking. I'm not sure if I tightened it enough or if it's that coolant is building up too much pressure. I can attempt to move it down some more but I really need to figure out what's causing all this coolant loss as it's been slow leaking for a while now...

 

Replace the clamp with a new style clamp and toss the OEM style for starters. Then if it still leaks replace the lower hose and call it a day.

 

Most likely, the new hose has thinner material and the constant tension clamp is not causing enough pressure...or it is just gething weak. Anyhow. Agree, replace with screw type clamp and see what that does for you. Just don't go to crazy tightening, since you are working with a plastic housing on stat.

I’ve had better luck with the black Britpart 180F honestly vs the OEM Grey 180F thermostat lately. Just DO NOT buy a Motorad branded thermostat whatever you do!

 

I used a screw clamp and coolant stopped leaking from the hose. All I need is time now to truly figure out if my coolant loss woes are gone, hopefully it's no longer, it used to be refuel gas and fill up coolant XD

 

Check the top hose when the truck is well warmed up, if it feels solid with no give in it you probably have other problems like an overheat or being pressurised by a leaking HG. Of course a dodgy thermostat would give similar results so don't tear the heads off until you eliminate all the easier options.

 

Well I checked my coolant and it's still leaking. I looked into the possibility of the HG, as it's right around that mileage(108k). No steam goo on oil cap, oil is normal in color, and no loss if power, not really giving any symptoms. I guess I'll have to pressure test the system, maybe check the plugs. I'm currently running an auto zone thermostat, no motors, a duralast, and I'm open to the possibility to that being the problem.

 

Unless Autozone has gone to another Vendor most of their thermostats are indeed made by Motorad. Get a Britpart 33.00 black 180F thermostat at least or the 66.00 OEM LR Grey one. Where is the leak coming from??

Waterpumps can seep (two long bolts go straight into the cooling jacket), Throttle body heater plate, brittle plastic lines to radiator and Throttle body heater plate, and of coarse the radiator itself.
