Cooling fan set ups
I’m curious to see what others are running for electric engine cooling fans. I’d like to see custom made setups from other OEM parts to full blown after market custom builds
I’m toying with the idea of replacing my belt driven fan for a temp controlled unit for weight savings and less engine load.
Thoughts?

I've got a full custom Flex a lite system that works at maintaining temps exactly as the stock unit does.
In my experience I've gotten no MPG gain, but possibly a horse power or two gain.
Biggest drawback I've found is that if your alternator goes out, you have about 20 minutes to get to civilization/help or you are dead in the water. The fan sucks the battery pretty fast. You can't turn it off to save the battery power...
IMO the only way to do this is with dual batteries... I'm going back to stock because I travel off grid way to much to chance a dead alternator in the woods. Had it happen on the Freeway, got real lucky in that I was near a town with a NAPA.

I have one rusn 89 Nissan Maxima fans. Dual speed, maxima shroud fits Rover radiator with minimal trimming. Runs fine at highway speeds with fans off but you need them in town or on the trails. Never had an alternator issue but don't drive it that much as it is the trail truck mostly.
