Cooling System
Its possible that Turner left/dropped something in a coolant passage but I doubt it given their reputation. Did you stuff the coolant ports in the heads with paper towels during assembly?
Possible that something dislodged from the radiator or heater core and is now a blockage.

"Nobody wants to answer that question!!!"
HAHA! No kidding.
I have a $7500 quote to have the transplant done at a reputable shop with non guaranteed block!!! The block has been tested in every way but hot and has been completely rebuilt. That price includes electric fans and a new cooling system as well but damn.
I have the time this summer to try doing it myself but have never done an engine swap before. I'd almost rather take the chance of doing it wrong myself than paying big money only to have it fail.

I went with a Turner long block with cam upgrade and gas flowed heads. New cooling system, pulleys, belt, water pump, front cover, spark plugs, wires, coils, etc. With labor at a Land Rover indie, I'm at about $10k.

Have you done compression or coolant pressure tests? I don't think the liners could crack because they are iron, but could the block have gotten through testing, but is faulty?
I had a good experience with them, and I think if you have the mechanic communicate with them about what they find they will make you whole. They are probably reticent to accept fault if a technician has not confirmed.

It's the block that cracks, the liners can slip but not crack. If you had a cracked block behind a liner you would either have coolant in a combustion chamber or your oil.
Just curious how much money are you into this now?
I'm on the verge of an engine transplant myself and dread the thought of spending thousands and having it still not work.
Best of luck and have a great trip!

Most of the time I'm afraid to think about how much I have in this. I think a safe bet is around $7k on the engine, and maybe another $1-2k on parts.
I skimmed through this thread again and only spotted one mention of replacing the t stat. Your temps were exactly what I had with a brand new oem grey stat. It was a bum stat. They can be faulty out of the box... maybe try replacing it again? Also point the ir gun at the top and bottom of the stat, note temperature range.
Man, that is really puzzling. It almost has to be a bad thermostat. Have you checked it in a pot on the stove?
I can't imagine, after all you have done, that draining the radiator sounds like any fun.

We tested the one that we installed. It's possible the one he shop installed is faulty since it's not
an LR grey stat.
