Could a coolant leak into the engine ruin the engine completely?
How much are you in to it for? Upside down? If the body and interior are in good shape, you could expect somewhere around $2,000-$2,500, but not much more than that. If its in poor condition probably less. You could part it out, but you're looking at time and space required to disassemble everything, and you may not sell enough to get your money out I it. Plus, I hate seeing discos parted out that could be repaired. Such a waste of a great automobile. That being said, what are you looking to get out of it? I may be able to help you out. PM me if you want to talk.
Quick note, had the same problem a few years back, the stealership said the leak was the head gaskets. Replaced them and found no other issues but still had coolant in the cylinders. They suggested Bars Leak since they then thought it was micro pores in the block since my wife ran the truck dry of coolant one day. 2 years later, truck is still running. It's a cheap try to fix the truck.

True. Since the block is known to be bad it may be worth a shot. But take note that the system may become clogged--mainly the radiator and heater core. Risky, but may buy some time. Would I do it to my truck? Not in a million years.
This stuff works GREAT!!
