see if it comes in cheaper than q & e. Thanks for all of the input. Now since it's already torn down, any opinions on camshaft ?
There is an inherent problem with tuning engines, even fitting different camshafts, they become more stressed and unreliable. I've spent many years tuning race engines for cars and motos and they can easily toast themselves even mildly tuned and mine were heavily tuned in some cases. Personally for general road and some offroad use I would stick with an untuned engine running a standard or equivalent camshaft. You have to look at your usage profile and how many miles you do with hard acceleration or flatters top end, if you use the truck as a city commuter runabout there is absolutely no point tuning it.

If you have a washed down non outside cylinder, it's 100% doomed. Get a 4.6 RR either GEMS or BOSCH Block. If you get a gems you have to swap the crank sensor insert.

no, top hat O-ring liners solves a cracked inner bore.

No other block needed.

Default Update!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for all your advice/suggestions. After getting several quotes it seems that both the most economical and perhaps the best solution is q & e engineering in Anaheim. My plan is to pull the block tomorrow, and then ship it out to them, then completely rebuild the engine. Has anyone used the arp stud kit from lucky 8?

Thanks again,

Alan

many peeps have used head studs with good results. Pretty much all the rover engine builders recommend them. I didn't use them because I'm a cheap bastard but next time the heads come off they are on my list.
