Default Cracking Front Bumper and Air Cowling

Dear forum

I have an '03 Disco II. These vehicles run great but the quality of the parts is disappointing. The air cowling keeps cracking and I've replaced them twice already, and now my front bumper is cracking for no reason. I have a bull bar protecting the bumper so I know it's not from another vehicle hitting it.

Below are pics of the cracking front bumper.

I checked the forum posts first and I didn't see a lot of threads on this. the air cowling cracking appears to be a common thing but the cracked bumper looks to be a seldom occurrence.

Can you share recommendations on what to do with these issues?

Thanks

Al

fairly common. you can fix and paint. you can keep replacing it with plastic ones. you can swap to a steel one

I think dusty uses epoxy. I bought a hot stapler from Eastwood to structurally fix the cracks, then fill with epoxy, then sand and paint. Eastwood also has some fancy plastic welders.

Default Bumper repair with epoxy

I removed my bumper cover and then taped the outside into position. Scuffed, cleaned, and epoxied from the inside liberally. After the epoxy cured I installed the cover on the vehicle and epoxied from the outside making sure I filled the cracks completely. After the epoxy cured I sanded it smooth, cleaned, and sprayed it with bed liner to get a texture. I looked great until my German Shepard decided to put her paws on it before the bed liner dried. Oh well there is also nose art all over the back windows. It has been a couple of months and it still is crack free.

Here is a link to a quick youtube video I posted:
