Default crank sensor / fuel pump

So after talking to mike earlier (thanks by the way) ive narrowed my starting problems down to two possible culprits... ive already bought the crank sensor and plan on installing it tomorrow. My question is this... for replacing a fuel pump on an 04 disco, which years will work with mine and since I have sai do I have to buy a fuel pump that works with it?

For the CKP sensor, plug it in and let it dangle to install. If still no-go, would consider used or after market fuel pump (replaces some of the internals of your existing one).

Which end are you talking about plugging in? The plastic snap end? Not being smart but whats the reason to do that?

Unless you have over 150,000 miles - then I doubt your fuel pump is failed.
Fuel pumps fail after a certain number of running hours.

Seems around 180,000 miles fuel pumps are failing.

check you fuel preasure at the rail, hours and milage have nothing to do with when you fuel pump will give out.

The electrical connector end, yes. Access is tight in that space, made for Martians with long skinny fingers. Be sure every spacer and washer and nut goes back in the same spot, alignment is critical. Here's a page on it.

BTW, getting at the fuel pressure test port on the rear corner is not an easy task (as compared to the the "out-where-you-can-get-at-it" on the D1).
