Just ordered the brass fittings with adapter to barb to connect straight into rubber hose portion. Will report back as this should be a quick cheap option vs the $400 trailhead trans lines....which is highway robbery imo.

Greetings All,

Just had the dreaded quick coupler blow out on the trans cooler (drivers side) after doing a full radiator/hose replacement. Tracking options on various forums for this it looks like there are several solutions. Curious which ones are proving reliable. Based on this have any of you who did the compression to cooler with barb/clamp having good results? I'm guessing hose clamps to cooler might not be enough. Thanks in advance.

Dave

Pls read my post above. After 10k miles zero problems with my compression fittings on the oil cooler.

That top hard line was annoying to get out. Luckily I was able to go at it from the top of the transmission while standing in the engine bay. Both were 19mm nuts. The brackets that hold the lines together were a 10mm and an 8mm.

Seems like swapping the bell housing wouldn’t be possible without the hard lines out of the way.
Im at this exact point right now.. Wondering why this has to be done... Was it just a matter of clearance for changing the bell housing?

All of the above. The original hard lines can't follow the contours of the new engine, oil pan and bellhousing. This was probably one of the trickier parts of the swap and it really depends on your local shop and what parts they have in stock and how much they're willing to work with you. I can go back and measure my lines to at least give you an idea of how long your requested lines should be.
