My 2003 D2, when start, there is the squeezing noise coming from the secondary air pump, after a ~1min, the noise is gone. It appeared to be normal

Should I replace the secondary air pump? Didn't find anyone reporting or replace the secondary air pump.

Mine does it on start up, and sometimes idling at a traffic light. You can remove the end and clean the foam filter. It sounds like a little jet engine, kinda cool.

 

Lisa, Thank you. I'll give it a try. Any tips as how to open and clean?

 

There is a black cover that pops off and contains the foam filter. The filter will be very brittle so be careful when trying to clean it.


Or do like I did and install a removable and cleanable K&N 1" air filter part # 62-1370...
