Default D1 CDL into D2 conversion question

Hi guys,

I bought this conversion from Abran, but elected not to get the D1 rubber shift boot that goes under the console because we thought the D2 may already have this boot.

After doing some research, now I'm not so sure.

Can anyone who has done this conversion ( I know your out there), confirm this for me? I don't want to tear everything apart and then find out I need the part and have to wait for it.

I know I don't need the boot, but I am trying to do everything I can to eliminate noise and heat entering the cabin as I take a lot of long trips in my D2. The boot in question is the one on the left in the pic below.....

Thanks!

when I converted mine I made a seal from an old inner tube. Cut a hole just big enough for the shifter arm and glued it to cover plate it to the tunnel. Worked good for me using the original D2 shifter boot.

That boot you are showing will not fit on your D2 console without modifications. I used these instead and then cut my original hole in the foam to fit. These are off the D1

I modified the boot on the left in your pic to fit. I wanted the install to be as factory as possible.

The D2 comes with a foam liner that could probly be modified to work much like the D1's boot.

I just stuck the rubber boot down under the console without attaching it. It made a huge difference in the amount of noise coming up from under the console.

It won't fit. Get the boot from rovers north that should do the trick.

I used the d2 foam stuff, and cut a square hole in it, then I just used a little dynamat all round under there and it seems quiet. I take my D2 on semi long trips to Utah, California, and some other places, all at least 300+ miles apart and its comfortable.

That small boot that you show in the pic only came on 94' and 95' D1 CDL shifters as well as the larger one that Andy posted pics of

96' and newer have only the larger boot with metal surround trim.

Abran,

What year D1 did the CDL assembly you sold me come off of? I was thinking about buying the FRC6872/FRC6873 parts when I finally get around to installing my CDL but obviosly wont if they wont fit...

Thanks,
Andy
