Seems to work, no misfires etc, some lambda and sai related error codes. Need to see about them at some point.

Just a small clip how she sounds now.

I'd call my first hg job a success!

A small update on this.

Have driven ~2000km (~1200miles) on this now and it's going on strong.
Done some firewood hauling also.

Just checked the oil and added some.
I have noticed that If I rev this when stationary, there will be a dark spot on the ground behind the exhaust where the exhaust hits the gound, and it seems like oil.
It's not dripping or pouring, it's just some fine mist apparently with the exhaust gasses. Something to worry about?

Still in a bit of learning to drive an auto, well, mostly the proper use of the throttle, how much it needs to be smashed on acceleration etc.

The fuel comsumption so far has been around 15 liter per 100 km, so roughly, what, 15.7 US mpg or 18,8 British mpg...

15.7 is pretty decent, best I have ever seen was 17 at 70 mph steady relatively flat ground on a stock truck.

I had the same issue with my old (now broken) engine. No external oil leaks visible but high oil consumption (one quart per 700 miles). Oil got burned and some left the exhaust after a cold start leaving a black sprinkled spot on the driveway. I pulled the lower intake and saw the air intake channels coated in black, which I attribute to a crappy valley gasket job (HGs were done at 80k miles by a shop, the lower intake bolts were very lose and not torqued to spec). Also a lot of carbon deposits in the cylinders. In addition I suspect worn valve stem guides and seals and to some degree worn piston rings (but no blue smoke). Nevertheless the engine ran at least 40k miles this way, except for the typical D2 ticking noise at low rpm and the oil consumption as mentioned.

It would be nicer to not see the oil in the exhaust, but if it was me I wouldn’t plan to do anything about it. It will probably be fine for a long time.
