D2 Buying help
Will do Frank.
Ha! Speak for yourself, mine's not garbage. Hell I think they're great for what you can buy one for..
$4-8k is peanuts compared to a new vehicle anyways.
Never said he would be the first one to overpay.

That aside, found another DII with 100k with original owner and all service history. Got it for $2000. Cant wait for the restoration!
Thanks everyone for your opinions and helping me look at both sides of the coin. Really do appreciate it
Thanks!
Eric

Cant wait to get started on mine, gotta get it 2,200 miles home first ha

While I do think 8K is a bit much for a D2 with a rebuilt title....if it does not appear to have any serious frame damage and if the motor was done right, you'll be fine.
I have bought a D2 that originated in the PNW w/ 120K on it, head job, and full receipts and it has been the best 4500 I spent. Super clean, no issues through one of the worst NY winters, and the body & frame is clean... I have also spent 6500 on a NE D2 with full receipts and a rebuilt motor and it has been my biggest headache. The frame/body....so-so...for anyone reading this - don't buy a D2 anywhere near NYS or any part of the NE!!!
If it's clean and runs great...good for you. You'll will find D2's are in such a price range that you get plenty of cheapo's out there trying to be ghetto fabulous that will bitch and moan about everything......they are mostly kids, so take their comments with a grain of salt. Same goes with their suggestions, inputs and fixes. (any hateful comments following this post will point them out!)
Used car prices are outrageous. So if you get a D2 that your happy with for 8K - smile and walk away. I bought my 1st D2 as a potential toy, but the lady stole it from me simply because it's a land rover and she enjoyed the classic SUV looks & feel. So I got another to start playing with and you know what - I'm down 11K, she's happy, I'm happy and it's still cheaper then one year of a lease or new car payment!
Just two basic rules for D2 ownership - you have to expendable cash for repairs (a few hundo can't hold you back for weeks), and you truely have to enjoy wrenching on vehicles as a hobby! Oh ya - if you can find a cheap D2 w/ a blown motor for dirt cheap and have room - get it - nothing better than having a parts vehicle.
Best of luck to you!
