D2 steering box seal kit

D2 steering box seal kit
Guys, got a steering box leak that started from a drop here and there, to the reservoir almost emptying itself overnight.
Finally got my output shaft seal kit from BP and would like to know if one can get away with the seal change without having to take the whole box out of the vehicle. I'd really like to be able to just remove the pitman arm and perform the seal change ( which consists of 4-5 different seals and clips) without having to remove all the hoses and disconnect the steering and all.
What do you know about it ????

not sure about the D2 steering box but there is no way I would want to do that on the D1 steering box in the truck, I would suggest tossing it on a bench and doing it the right way first, may be a little more work but from my experience a little more work to do it the right way usually ends up being easier than running into problems doing it the wrong way, also not sure about your seal kit but if you purchased a complete seal kit I would replace them all (better replace them all now then have to do it all again anyways!)

as long as the bolts that hold the gear box in are in good shape, its not too bad. just make sure the wheels are straight and the steering wheel is lined up properly before it all gets put back together. (and dont spin the steering wheel at all when it is disconnected, I am now replacing my clockspring because my daughter spun it while I was working on it)
