D2 Wiper Issue
Lately when I've turned my wipers to interim mode they've had a delay coming on. Then the other night I was driving home in the rain. The wipers were making a noise louder than their usual knocking noise when all of the sudden they froze mid-wipe. I was able to manipulate the switch a little to get home, but they haven't been reliable.
Does this sound like something to do with the motors or the switch going bad?

Remove the cowl and inspect the wiper motor assembly. I only bring this up because this was an issue on my truck when I first purchased it. Found the motor had thoroughly trashed the bolt holes that it was mounted to and would rattle around.
Same on my D2. To make the wipers work, if I simply rotate the switch a turn, nothing. But if I quickly twist the dial a turn then flick it back, they go. Like quickly turning a light switch on/off.
I was thinking either the stalk needs cleaning or replacing and haven't gotten around to it.
Just found this. May give it a go https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...tch-fix-46886/

I tried that Wiper Switch Fix thread and cleaned my switch. Its much more responsive now, all the functions work immediately. However my initial problem still remains: the arms/motor locks up mid-wipe. It locks up right at the height when it changes direction and won't come back down. I can hear the motor clicking trying to get it back down but they appear stuck. If I manually manipulate them it doesn't take much force to return them to their original starting positions.
I should probably get this fixed before it rains again. Would it be the arms or the motor(I've been wanting to swap to D1 arms for a while)? New or used?

Linkage assembly may be binding up, that and motor under air intake cowl. AB has a good video on removal for access. May want to take a look and see if you can free it up to save some dough.

I finally pulled the Discovery into the garage to look at this issue. When I removed the cowl per the video (thanks for that), I was able to find that all 3 bolts had come loose from the motor and it was only connected via the linkage! Thankfully all of the bolts were still sitting there. So with a little wrench time and lock-tite I've got it all hooked up!
Took it for a ride in the rain today and it was like driving a whole new Rover. Previously the wipers always made this loud knocking noise, now they were whisper quiet. Also after cleaning the switch everything comes on immediately and works great.
