No. Don't cut up any USB stuff.
It's not just a power wire -- there are communications channels in there as well. And the wire isn't the issue anyway, it's the transformer putting out amperage that's too low for what you need.
The kit linked above doesn't tell you what the amperage is that I can see.

I bought the suggested kit and it works great, thanks for the suggestions. I am trying to find a 2nd spot for the add-a-fuse that gets power when Accesories is on. I am using 13 for the camera, but figure if I have the cable made up for a phone charger I may as well use that too. I have tried a ton of different fuses, windows, fan, etc. they work with varying effectiveness. Some work when the car is off, not when it is one, and vice versa. With my limited electrical experience it sounds like there is a relay or something else that is managing the power.

Any suggestions on which fuse to tap into?

I would use the add-a-fuse on interior fuse box location F15 which is for the cigarette lighter and definitely gets acc-on power.

***Please don't add-a-fuse to an add-a-fuse; that is a good way to burn down your disco!

If you need something for your phone charger you can use a female spade connector to S13 and its already fused at 20A.

Of course you could also just purchase a usb adapter to go into your cig lighter/aux charger and save that 20A circuit for something else.

I have found the Anker brand to be good quality and this adapter has USB C and USB A ports:

Thanks, I like the idea of a clean dash. No wires hanging around. I ran a USB from the fuse to the coin tray that i can hide away when not needed. I just cant seem to find the correct fuse that is hot when the car is running. I have a tried a number of them and it seems there is only power when the car is off. So I know the wire works, just not when I want it to. S13, do you mean F13? From RAVE:
F13 30 A All Rear window lift relay.

F13 30 A All Rear window lift relay.

S13 is an unused receptacle that is fused at 20A.

That was a great idea, the spade attachment fits perfectly. It seems that power to that connection shuts off a few seconds after the car is turned on. Otherwise that is a great idea.

Any other places should try? Either an add a fuse or other?

Checked my fuse box and F19 and F33 are the two locations that I am using for add-a-fuse for my dashcam and ham radio.
