Default Dead battery again

This first happened over Christmas break. I was out of town for 10 days and when I came back my battery was dead. Just now, I was going to go over to a friends house and the battery is dead again. It has been 10 days since driving it. I was in Utah Fri.- Sun., and when I came home I checked RovrFlo to make sure it was ok (just a visual check). I saw my alarm light was still flashing so I went upstairs. The PO replaced the battery (a DieHard) on 11/21/06 at 73,442 miles. My friend is on the way over now to give me a jump, and he has a multimeter. Where should I start looking for a possible cause?

Thanx

I would start with the battery. Die Hard, made in Mexico now, aren't what they used to be.

Die Hards are by far the worst big name battery on the market, all have been.
As for your problem, get it started and go back to sears, this is a joke, cause half the time they can't figure out how to open the hood much less do a battery and load test, but any way go have them test it.

Did you do any tests with the multimeter? That should give you a good indication if the battery is okay or if the alternator is working. The batteryshould reallybe charged up firstbefore a load test is done. It sounds like something is drawing off the battery when the truck is sitting. That can be common with some alarm/security systems. I don't know if it applies here though.

Didn't get to do a multimeter test yet. I have plans to get an Optima Red Top, but it might be sooner than I thought. It looks like there are a few different options, which one is best for the D2? I'll take it to Sears, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hi , I am having similar problem with my discovery 96 where my battery is dying while driving because my alternador is not working correctly. Replaced Battery few tomes with a battery from Costco (100 monts warranty) and I also replaced Alternator ( when I took this one to autozone they say the diodes were bad), replaced battery and alternator and issue still there. ( only 12 volts when measure voltage thru both battery post. It is possible that I have a bad ground, your guys can give an idea where to look for.

First, with the engine running, check what voltage you are getting at the alternator itself, then follow that same (+) wire to the fuse box and take a look at the fusable link to see if it is intact. Check the voltage on either side of the fusible link just for kicks.

D2G,
You can not charge a battery by driving it, unless you go a couple hundred miles or more.
You may have a good battery that just never gets charged enoung to stand the cold and down time.
Go get a full 2 hour charge, then have a load test run on the battery and alternator.
