***UPDATE***

OK, so I ran over to get the truck a few minutes ago, hop in and it fired right up. It's about four miles from the gas station home and a few things occurred:

1. driving at a constant highway speed, I noticed a couple of surges
2. when I slowed down for a yield I had one pretty good surge
3. came to a stop light and it stalled, but fired back up
4. slowed down to turn into my road and it felt like it wanted to stall
5. pulling into the garage and it stalled, but fired back up

I've shut it off a few times and each time it starts right back up now. Seems like when I'm going from a driving speed to a stop is when it stalls.

Further thoughts with this new information??

Thanks!

There are codes called pending codes.

Pending codes are in the ECU but the check engine light
is not on yet.

Please check for pending codes.

You probably have at least one.

That will cut down on the goose chase.

Otherwise lots of educated guesses.

It could be a lot if things. Stalling at a stop could be a large Vacuum leak among other things. Do you hear a loud hissing sound like it's sucking in air? If not then I'm still thinking that it is the CPS going bad.
Try and scan for any Trouble or Pending codes and get back to us.

Thanks all.

I don't hear anything that would scream vacuum leak. Based on a couple other threads plus this, I'll probably replace the crankshaft position sensor and get it scanned for any pending codes and get back to you.

Thanks again.

OK gang. Looks like it was the crankshaft position sensor.

Replaced it yesterday and have been driving a bunch with zero issues. $60 fix, but it is true what you read on this message board...a job that seems like it should be SO easy and just isn't (seriously...four nuts and an electrical connector is such a PITA!)...unless you have really tiny hands...but then that would be another issue.

Thanks again!

Yup. The easiest looking - the connector - is the hardest. Glad you're on the road again! One more save for the boards!
