Default Default 03 Disco Hmmm?? Buzzing from ABS Module?

Hmmm I was under the hood playing around about to use my spiffy new 3ton floor jack on my Disco and it was very quiet outside except some DANG Pigeons... anyway... There was a buzzing patter repeated coming from the ABS modulator... car unlocked but off with no keys in ignition and hood is up... I was just snooping around looking for leaks as I think its about time for a new water pump... along with some ball joins... anyway... I heard a buzing sound and I first though it was a slow vacuum leak but could not pin point it so took time and finally found it... it was coming from the ABS Modulator motor and connector.... is this normal?

There a bunch of threads on this topic. Its a common noise caused by SLABS not powering down the ABS modulator once the vehicle is turned off. If you leave your vehicle off for weeks it could drain your battery. There was mention of a SLABS update that fixed this but no one can seem to locate it.

Can this run down a battery if no key in ignition and car shut up for a long time?

Hmmmm maybe it might be a good idea for some to put those solar battery chargers on for long stints without starting... Maybe this is what kills batteries in these... I replaced mine last year ... I still have some electric gremlins i havent been able to solve
1. Hit a bump good and rear windsheild whiper goes off...
2. Turned left with signal only with lights on triggers 3 amigos
3. When headlights on... No cruise control
4. When turning Disco off with radio on it makes a terrible noise
5. Power seat heaters burn fuses
6. Oddly when turning on headlights i can hear the safety detent allowing you to shift gears release
7......
And i still love my disco! Lol

Damn, got quite a list there! I also had the weird static noise from the radio when turning off and no key in the ignition. It turned out to the amp under the drivers seat had a blown capacitor that was randomly draining my battery. Its pretty quick to pull out and open up. Got a replacement from Paul Grant for very cheap. Might want to check your fuse panels for any creative wiring a PO might have done.
