if you cut different size holes in the right spots you might get it to play a tune as the wind blows through it. but seriuosly don't cut holes in good diamond plate, you could use it on another project. Give the rack a try while you come to terms with the idea that you may have made a mistake in you plans along the way. But I do appreciate your "do it myself" attitude, good luck.

Not to jump onto the "don't use it as it is" bandwagon, but lift may not be your only problem. Most Disco's I have seen are slightly nose-heavy, this would result in significant down-force, eventual overload and failure of the gutter mounting rails, and then loss of control of the piece.

Awesome job on putting that thing together from scratch, but please heavily reconsider your choice of flooring - both for your safety as well as others on the road.

Best regards,

I can't wait to see this thing mounted. I would certainly cut some holes in it though, it will make it easier to strap stuff down too.

Good Job and Good Luck-

Looks good, can't wait to see that beast mounted up!

You can even use it as a giant skillet in the summertime!

If you do decide to remove that plating you can pickup 2 sheets of this for $40 - http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies...roductId=20251.

Several guys on here have used this stuff and I think there is even a right up on where to cut it and how to secure it.

Is that stuff sturdy enough to walk around on it? Does it help cut down on the noise/whistling from the rack or add to it?

yes it is sturdy enough to walk and load on. overlapping works best. If your concerned about noise i would suggest no rack at all or a deflector on the front of the rack. I don't think the coop flooring adds any noise IMO.
