Did I install my oil separator correctly?
I have an '04 with the metal casing for the oil separator. Nicely enough, it twists out with a pair of channel lock pliers. I replaced the oil separator a couple days ago as part of a valve cover casket replacement and spark plug and wire job, but after some codes and rough exhaust sounds the last couple days, I'm wondering: Did I install the oil separator right?
I had drilled out the old separator, and had to really force the new one in, level by level. I installed it with the long plastic nipple sticking out the open bottom of the metal shaft, and the final semi-circular plastic ring was about flush with the opening of the shaft. Did I install it right? Should it go deeper, where the level is not flush? The other way around?
The AB video only showed an older style Disco oil separator, so I was guessing at putting mine in, but the one I drilled out was facing the same way.

Even if you instal the oil seperater wrong, or even if it's clogged, won't cause a code,,
But do your gaskets & seals a favor & take it out of tube & just put the empty tube in place, then get a regular PCV valve like fram FV237, & instal it after hollow tube, that way it will never clogg & cleaning it if necessary is very easy,,

Anybody ever posted in the LR4 section?
BTW, it's easy. Remove engine cover and intake tube. It's right there.
