Default Did I make a mistake standing on the spare tire?

Dumb question - I was loading a Christmas tree on the roof and stood on the spare tire to get access real quick (tailgate closed). Just realized afterward that I far exceeded the weight limit of the carrier. Did I **** something up or just paranoid for no reason? Sheet metal looks normal.

I stand on mine from time to time. I don't think its great for the door skin but as long as the door is closed and latched, it should be okay on the hinges.

For sure. Should definitely be OK on the hinges seeing as how the ladder is there and meant for supporting a human.

There are some issues with the factory carrier "tearing" around the studs, but I think it's more of a vibration issue than just a weight issue. I've stood on mine for years.

When driving the dynamic forces on the carrier are much higher than the weight of the tire.

Oh no!!! Probably damaged; best to gift yourself a new HD tire carrier (at least that's what I told my wife)
