Default Diesel disco

Just wanted some input from you guys that know about and how Diesel engines work
I live in Canada where premium gas is expensive $1.40 a litre and the thought of having diesel in a disco has always attracted me because of the mpg
there is a 96 disco with a 200 tdi engine in it for sale near me. What do you guys feel or know about Diesel engines
pros
cons ??
My 03 disco is in mint shape and most of these discos that have had the diesel swap are not always in great shape, things like ripped seats no air condition due to the swap etc. And the heat in the cabin situation

Pro’s are improved MPG and they are pretty reliable motors if given some care.

Con’s are they are slow, parts are expensive and a bit more of a pain to get. That may be different in Canada

Maybe ask the defender guys about parts, they are mostly diesel at least around here. But a quick google shows part available.

a diesel engine will run and run without trouble until something hideously expensive goes wrong with it. the injector and fuel pressure systems are usually way more complex than with gasoline.
performance-wise, diesel tends to have a lot more torque but slower response. revs are much lower than with gasoline. they're also noisier.

Aim your evaluations/calculations for miles per Cdollar instead of gasoline "mpg". How much is a litre of diesel there ?

How many kilometres you drive as daily average ?
