Default diesel rover braking system question

how do they boost the brakes on the diesels? Do they use some kind of hydroboost system like a GM diesel or a power steering/braking pump like a bmw?

Engine vacuum just like a gas engine I would assume.
Brakes is brakes man.

Now if your talking air brakes thats a whole other story, but I assume you are talking Rover brakes.

I believe the braking system is the same as in the gas engines but there is a vacuum pump for the brake booster line instead of using the vacuum pull off the plenum in the gas engine.

Diesels don't have much vacuum.
Different diesels use different methods.
My Perkins has a vacuum pump driven by the timming gears.
My Rover 2.25 has a dodgy flapper valve thing in the inlet manifold so what little vacuum is created isn't lost.
My 300Tdi has an engine driven pump

I learned something.
When I drove truck they all had airbrakes so I never thought about it.
As long as you had PSI you could stop.
If you lost PSI your brakes locked up, pretty simple.

The Diesel D2 is no different,

My TD5 has a vacum pump connected / drive off the alternator for brake assistance
