how long before they look like the one in the pic.
Also I wonder what the flush does...

It's best when trying to diagnose something to do one thing at a time. That way, when something gets better you have a good chance of working out what the problem was.
If you change the plugs and all the misfires go away you know it was caused by the plugs (ultimately). Of course, what's causing the plugs to foul up is the next question. If you change all the plugs but still have one misfire, check the wires etc.
If you change everything, you don't know what the problem was.
Edit, you have a stack of mechanical knowledge, you just don't realise it
When your mechanic puts new plugs in, get the tools to take them out again, and keep an eye on them. Take a couple out once a week or so. Maybe take a photo and after a few weeks see what's going on.
