Default Disco 2 oil and filter?

Hey all,

I have essentially partially inherited my familys '00 LR Disco II and use it as a daily friver as my car is less fit to do so. Anyway, it's due for an oil change - I was wondering if anyone could help me out as to whether or not I can grab a filter locally (autozone/napa/pepboys) and how much oil do these things take? I have the manual @ home but am currently at work.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jon,

Autozone sells K&N oil filters. Many like to use the the 3001 because it has a higher capacity than the one the book calls for, and apparently a better anti-drainback valve to prevent dry starts. I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 oil in the fall and winter, and 10W-40 in the summer.

Thanks Dave!

Do you happen to know the quantity of oil I should buy? We're a BMW household and I know the details for every car, except this one!

I also you the K&N filter, if you can't find them go for a Mobil 1 oil filter.
