Question Disco 2 Shifting problems

Hi All

I am looking for some help with my NAS 1999 Disco 2 v8 4.0 which is running high RPM and shifting erratically. The following faults are consistently present(Faultmate Extreme) P1592 traced to left rear ABS sensor , still to be pulled cleaned and inspect the reluctor ring.P0141/P0161 both for downstream O2.
P0455 major evap leak but have yet to trace the source all looks visually ok from evap canister forward.

The trans is shifting from 1st to 2nd very quickly almost instantaneous then 2nd to 3rd takes some time with high revs (2100/2200). Once in 3rd it will bounce back to second. All very erratic and I am at a loss to understand what the issue is. Have done the following.
1) Installed new battery (failed load test)
2) Alternator output low 13.2/13.5 on order due Monday.
3) Shift cable adjustment made as cable was a bit tight.
4) New Trans filter and oil.(Dex III)

The drive feels like there is slippage. The engine is a new install and the trans was working perfectly before the engine change out.

I posted this first in the tech help section but have had no comments yet. Please any advise would be appreciated.

Evening All

Update on progress made.
1) Accelerator cable adjustment found to tight so adjusted and shifting has improved but not completely solved the problem.Still shifting to early from 1st to 2nd.
2) Rear abs sensor removed and cleaned. Fault code no longer present but brake is self activating during acceleration. Only fault code on ABS is listed as </b>. Am not finding much info on this. Help please
3) Removed instrument cluster and found previous owner has removed LED for the following. MIL,ABS,Hill descent, centre diff. Found a local repair service but will take some time. Sport and manual working.

Hi

Faults are being read with a Faultmate extreme(Blackbox solutions). Cleaned the sensor and the TC is now engaging so the sensor has been disconnected until I can get a replacement in. Will think about changing out the hubs as well as they have high mileage so may be worth doing all-round.

New alternator fitted and shifting has improved slightly but am still not completely happy with it as the shift points still seem to be abnormal.

On another note I also fitted a Magnaflow cat back system and bloody hell it's ridiculously loud. Way to much for my ears and the wife is raising holy hell too so I will be going back to the original system and the magnaflow is going back on the market.
So I am of back to one months work in Africa shortly so the disco will have to wait for next home trip to continue.

Don't take the MagnaFlow cat back off!

Just add a Magnaflow muffler. I believe it was the 6 or 7 inch round one. I had the local muffler shop weld one on between the exhaust tip and the pipe to the cat back. This item should be standard equipment to the cat back system when it's installed.

Made all the difference in the world.
