Default Disco 2 Sunroof Won't Close

So my son has decided he loves Land Rover, and I'm learning to work on it. New to us Disco 2 rear sunroof will open and will partially close electrically. Rolls all the way forward but won't fold down. I can use an allen ranch to open it and close it to the same point. Is the microswitch keeping it from folding into the frame or? Thank you

I have no idea, but have you downloaded the Rave Manual?

It’s invaluable.

Yep, got that, excellent reference. Pretty good at research, good at rigging. Just looking for insight if motor locks up when microswitch engages.

Before digging in, use the switch to *almost* close the sunroof, then open it back up just the slightest possible amount (i.e. just bump the switch briefly).

Then close it fully with the switch.

Just as a test.

The micro switch only tells the module to briefly stop the motor at the "vent" position. If you continue holding the button, or release and press again, the motor should continue moving the glass closed or open. You could try putting power directly to the motor and see if it fully opens and closes. If it does, it sounds to me like a flaky module.

"No Doubt", thank you, but no joy. "Red5", I notice that it opens with a single button press, but needs to be held to close ( as far as it will go). Front sunroof is working.

SO it turns out that the tracks are just 16 years dirty. I pulled a set of tracks from a salvage yard, and cleaned them up to get a feel for how this mechanism works, the tolerances don't allow for much gunk, but considering, it's a pretty good design I guess. So note that you don't have to pull the entire headliner to get at this mess and when the Rave says to "release" a light or fixture, it means take off the clear part and look for an attachment bolt or screw. Otherwise you get to go back to the salvage yard and replace those parts also. A low profile right angle drill head (I like the Klutch brand)will give you access to the screws, just be careful of the drainage tubes.
