Default Disco II - Lights come on but doesn't crank/start

hi all,

Just purchased my first disco a couple of weeks ago. When I first got it, the dealer had to reset because he hadn't driven it in a while but after that it was running fine. Occasionally, the Service Engine Soon light and three amigos would come on but usually would go away if I started it up again.

Yesterday, I started the car and noticed the Service Engine Soon and Three amigos came on again so immediately turned it off (this was a lot quicker than I usually do) and tried to start again. I got nothing. All lights, radio, A/C, and horn work but doesn't even crank. I disconnected the battery and tried to jump it but still nothing.

I gave it a rest for the day/night and tried again this morning. It started up pretty much right away, no service engine or three amigos on either. Drove it for about 15 minutes then turned off. Went back out to start again and now back to square one, wont crank/start.

I'm hoping it will start tomorrow and I can drive it straight to my mechanic and wont have to tow it but wanted to see if anyone here knew of these symptoms before taking it to the shop. Regardless, since I just bought it I was planning on having it looked at anyway but would like to go in at least knowing the problem. Not sure if it's an ECU issue, fuel pump, crank shaft, alternator, or just bad battery.

Still new to this forum and not very car handy....yet.

thanks

I had similar intermittent issues when I first got my 03. Check you battery connections make sure they are tight and check the ground wire

that was my problem I had to replace the connector to the positive side of battery
