Disco II Transmission Temp Sensor
#12
Well as fortune would have it, it is the sensor on the front tranny radiator. I disconnected the coupler at the top of the radiator on the passenger side and the light did not come on in the key position 2 on a non-running engine. reattached it and it came on. I also checked the easy one under the truck and it did not affect the light's illumination.
So how to get to the sensor on the tranny radiator. I looked at the service manual on line but it has no instructions on how to get to it. (not the rave manual) the LANDROVERRESOURCE.COM one.
Suggestions?

Raise and remove the front right tire. Remove the plastic wheel well cover. Life the flap that covers the side of the radiator and you will see the temp sensor at the bottom of the trans cooler. Unplug the sensor wire (by the top of the radiator) and remove the bolt that holds the bracket. Use a 7/8" wrench to remove the sensor. You will lose a little bit of fluid. Put the new sensor in and top off your trans fluid. The whole process should take you about a half hour.
