disco t-case f or g suffix
i have a 1996 discoI and need to replace the t-case. from what i have found when searching for a new one, there are two types with the automatic trans. discoIs, and "F suffix" and a "G suffix" how am i sure which one i have?
according to everything i have read, the f suffix was in the early discoI from 94 to 95, and the g suffix had a different gear on the trans output shaft and ran in the late discoI 96 and after and the early discoII through 99. Is this correct? i found a good price on a g suffix out of a 98 with 35,000 miles, but i dont want to buy it if it wont fit.
