Yes that is true; 8 minutes it will shut off, if the automatic 15 seconds hasn’t worked.

The auto dome light function is tied into the ignition somehow....I'm sure it is explained in the RAVE. Ohh, and their is NO door switches.
if you open any door without the key in the ignition the dome lights will come on (if set to auto position) and once doors close will fade off within 15 seconds....normally.

so it has to be tied to the actuators; breaking a ground I assume.

I think I caused a dead short when I replaced the rear hatch actuator last week; I am going to pull it open and see if I didn’t pinch a wire between the actuator and the door jam.

Yes, the actual "switching" on of the dome light is due to the door actuators, the ignition part I was referring to was when the lights are auto dimmed after a door remains open, then you turn the ignition on, the lights will come back on if I remember correctly. The ignition will over ride the auto dim
