Default Disconnect SAI?

Hi all.

My Landy throws code p1562 (The code is for low voltage and causes the S and M lights to flash on the dash ) when the damn SAI kicks in on start up.
Luckily I keep my OBDII in the car and just clear it before I take off.

Battery was new 6 months ago alternator is fine.

Basically my question is. Can I just unplug the SAI until its time for my next smog check and run without it?

Will this cause any other problems as it only comes on for about a minute or 2 on start up.

Any info appreciated.

Could be a failing SAI pump which is cake to replace, and relatively cheap.

Not sure about specifics but, I had forgotten to reinstall it one time and drove. It was just throwing codes everywhere until I noticed it was un plugged. Same as the IAVC plug. Though at this point, I can't remember how it run that time.

But, probably you have to check your battery connection why you are getting that code. I assume when the SAI motor kicks in, it lowers the voltage and ending up getting that code.

Try checking and cleaning your battery terminal posts. And your grounds. Thats what caused my M+S lights to go off once.

Other than getting a ton of codes, I don't think there is a problem with disconnecting the SAI. Just need to make sure the valves that connect to the head are still working and not leaking air into the heads.

Just a side note. Its running without a filter currently as the old one was crumbling to dust. Could it be sucking more power now it doesn't have the filter to impede air flow?

Also where can I get another filter? or what do I use to make a replacement? a sponge?

I added a K&N filter #62-1370 on my SAI pump. It was on eBay for $20 and it's washable.

That is a thing of beauty! Think I will be doing the same pretty soon. Is it a 1" internal diameter fitting?

Yes it is. The outside diameter of the SAI intake was slightly larger than the filter's inner diameter of one inch so the filter was able to fit well.
I had to cut off and grind down some of the plastic around the intake port to properly fit the filter. It was simple to do and looks good.
