Default SAI engine swap into a non SAI truck

Hi all,
Im looking at buying an 2000 SAI engine on craigslist that has 70k on it. the seller says it ran great with no ticks or problems. I've got a 2000 disco that has 198k on it and sounds like a diesel. Its a non SAI truck. Is it possible to put a SAI engine in a non SAI truck? I would delete the SAI system. Thoughts? He wants $900.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. I believe all you would have to do is weld up the ends of the SAI plugs that thread into the heads. I deleted my SAI and welded up my plugs when I installed my headers.

While you have it out go ahead and put a new timing chain and oil pump on it. Makes things a lot easier out of the truck.

If you intend on welding up the ends of the fittings for the SAI...just be sure the guy gives them to you...or you will have to find plugs for the heads...which would look cleaner, but they can be difficult to find.

I welded up the hole in a 5/16 flat washer and put it underneath the fitting/nut, where the tube would originally run through, to seal up my SAI system. A nickle works perfect, too...but I didn't want to put that kind of money into my rig...lol.

I would also do the head gaskets while it's out. Unless he has proof they were done recently, if he doesn't you should use that as a negotiation point.

Thanks everyone. I am going to check it out today. $900 seems steep to me if its a rebuild. I will report back.

Well it was too good to be true. Drove an hour to go see it and the engine they advertised was actually not for sale, instead he offered me a blown 98' d1 motor. Classic craigslist meth head trash. The search continues...
