Default Discovery 1 Seatbelt issue

Hi

I have a just imported a 99 Disco into New Zealand. During the entry certification they have picked up a seatbelt fault. They stated that the front seatblets are web sensitive but not vehicle sensitive??? He explained that if you pull the seatbelts sharply they lock but if you drive at 20km and slam the brakes on they don't lock.

Anyone had this problem? Or anyone know how hard it is to get the seatbelt out. The mechanic thought it possible they may have a bit of dust etc in the pendulum.

Any help appreciated thanks.

Do you have a SRS light on? If so that would indicate there was a problem with the seat belts automatic retractors that are supposed to tighten the belt up on impact.
You may not have a problem but instead, have atruck with the standard North American saftey belt features that they don't get down under as standard.

Thanks for the reply.

The seat belts have been manufactured to an australian standard so should be fine. ABS light isn't on, the seat belt itself is fairley simple, no retractors that I could see that could run off the ABS system anyway.
