Default Discovery 2 4.0 V8 crank position sensor

Hi all so I've been getting the CPS problem of cutting out when hot. I fitted a new CPS and the car would crank but not start so I refitted the original and it starts. Could the new CPS be faulty? Or is there something else I need to do when fitting the new cps? Is there a way the car registers/ learns the new CPS? Any help would be appreciated thanks everyone

New CPS could be faulty, no learning procedure required. Sometimes folks mix up the spacers when replacing and the CPS is spaced too far away to work but since you were able to put the old one back on I am going to assume that is not the problem.

Thanks for your reply. So I can only assume that the new CPS is faulty so will try another replacement not looking forward to changing it again but that's all I can do I suppose

I bought a NTK brand CPS. Good quality and not expensive.
