Discovery 2 Automatic XYZ Inhibitor Switch
Help needed please ,I have a Disco 2 2001,she is a bit of a wreck so trying to keep the repair costs down. Any way XYZ has pooped itself, I have cleaned etc but to no avail, still chucking the 2 green lights and no ignition what so ever. So here is the question, anybody try second hand and if yes best place to buy ? They are trying to charge me over 500 sterling over here in Australia for a new one and as I said she is abit rough around the edges but don'e want to wreck it yet.
You can find some on Ebay. The accepted knowledge is to get the same color switch that you have had. In your case probably brown.
My rebuild worked for ignition, but the corrosion inside is causing some issues with the ABS, and maybe ignition, so I found a good looking one on eBay. Just really look closely and make sure all the rivets are still in place.
I am going to put some rtv around the outside of mine to help protect it from water. I live in the upper midwest, lots of rain, snow, and ice.

Why do you think the XYZ switch is the problem? There are more than a dozen faults that can trigger the flashing M&S lights. Unless you have had the transmission codes read you are just throwing parts (and money, and time) at the problem.

Like mln01 said, get the faults read, and go from there. The relevant codes are on pages 44-19 and 44-20 of the RAVE Manual. It has a table of them and tells you which will turn on the MIL and/or the M/S lights.
